Saint List Rules

I take this opportunity to welcome the new and refresh the rules for you old timers:

  • Since I retired I have been pretty lax posting saints every day, I ask your patience....I'll do it, when I do it.  I have been publishing a more "sanitized" version of my daily saints in my parish weekly bulletin....
  • I don't want to be a pest. If you don’t want to get these emails any longer just please unsubscribe I won’t be offended, I promise. Christ died to set you free.   I did dump my sister off this list because when we visited her in Florida a few years back I saw her email inbox and it was choked with unread “Today’s Feasts” she deleted them without opening them.
  • I get my Saint information from a lot of places both web based and from my massive saint library at home. A lot of the facts I send around are available on the web, you can only get my spin on the various heavenly worthies and the snide commentary and sarcasm from me.
  • There are at least three saints or feasts on every calendar day of the year. The criterion I use for the saint for any given day is simply if I find them interesting and if I can make sarcastic or snide comments about the given saint.
  • Today’s Feast is always a Saint either canonized officially, or recognized as a Saint prior to the Formal Canonization process. From time to time I send around worthy Beati, (Blessed), or Venerables, as a bonus. So don’t get angry if the feast is Venerable Matt Talbot and I do Saints Gervase and Protase
  • Some of you contact me with questions or comments of your own, that’s fine, I welcome that of course. I often answer your questions or comments to the group if I think it is interesting. Reply to any daily email or use the "contact Tom Directly" link on the homepage.
  • My wife is “The Whip” she knows I call her this.
  • This list began in 1996 as an informal e-mail I would send to my friends every day, it includes people of many faiths (except Zoroastrians and Bah'ai so far, so if you know any…) There are Catholic Clergy on this list as well, Priests and Deacons, but it does not have an imprimatur…the saint of the day is my opinion alone.
  • I love our sundered Christian, Protestant and Orthodox Brethren, as well as the people of the The Covenant that God made with the Hebrew people through Moses, which remains eternally valid for them.  In fact I am a lover of all of God's Children, as The Lord Commands.   This does not spare them from occasional sarcastic cynical digs though....Be Not Offended
  • The alb makes me look fat
  • Translate the Latin I use at your own risk..it can be vulgar….
  • Our motto: "Castigat ridendo mores" Means either: "one corrects customs by laughing at them," or "laughter teaches where lecturing fails." Both appropriate...
